Enough is enough

Enough is enough

Time and time again the Catholic Church has come under fire for scandals. Whether it be the sexual mischievous of its priest’s, or the bribes of current Pope Benedict XVI, one thing is clear, enough is enough. For far to long they have been hiding in the shadows of the public eye, excuse after excuse, and cover-up after cover-up. Apparently, God only judges those who do not follow in his teachings, for those who do, it has become free roaming. Justifying their actions as the “Will of God.” I do not claim to have read the bible thoroughly or know of everything that religion preaches. But, one thing I do know is God does not condone molestation or theft through bribes. I do not doubt that the original purpose of religion was pure; unfortunately, it was only a matter of time before man corrupted it. It truly is a shame, the thought of what could have been.

The current scandal plaguing the Vatican is the leak of Pope Benedict XVI’s personal finance’s. These documents show proof of bribes through conversations with his personal secretary. (The end of the Catholic Church as we Know it?) This was all brought to light when an Italian Journalist, Gianluigi Nuzzi published the book, His Holiness: The Secret Papers of Pope Benedict XVI. Gianluigi’s information emanates from the personal butler (Paolo Gabriele) to Pope Benedict XVI. Gabriele faces theft charges, and up to four years in prison if he is convicted (Trial Starts for Pope's Butler). What is now being called the “Vatileaks Scandal,” has caused uproar among Catholic’s worldwide.

I find this whole situation alarming and disgusting. Gabriele stole private documents from the Pope, only to shed light on the corruption and sheer evil that takes place in the shadows that is the Vatican. Should the Catholics not be more concerned with criminal activities of Pope Benedict XVI and his associates, rather then putting away a man who did only what he believed was right. Simply, too protect the already tarnished name of the Catholic Church. How can people be so blind to the fact that these are corrupt people seeking personal gain? It sickens me that people can be so oblivious to what clearly is the real issue. Instead, they would rather protect a corrupt man and his followers then see them punished for continuous immorality. If judgment day comes I “pray” that God first, judges those who are too weak to judge themselves. Enough is enough.
